AB 2719 Recognizing the Needs of LGBT Older Adults

On August 24, 2018, Governor Brown signed into law AB 2719. The bill was authored by Jacqui Irwin of California Assembly District 44. Existing law ensures priority consideration is given to elderly in California under the Older Americans Act and the Older Californians Act identified as those in greatest economic or social need.

The bill revises the definition of greatest economic or social need to include cultural or social isolation caused by sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
